If it does implicate the Zadokites, then of course it could be the case that sections of Ezekiel 40-48 were added later, as some have argued. Do you have any thoughts on the issue of when Ezekiel 40-48 were written? Thanks for this! I'm glad you leave open the possibility that the Zadokites may have had a Levitical pedigree. I never saw much merit in the old idea that Zadok was originally a Jebusite! One question: do you really think Ezekiel thought that the Zadokites were faithful during the monarchic period? Would this stand in some tension with what he sees in chp 8? Interesting discussion?
