Review
Rating: 7
A very good tool for exploring the sources in the Pentateuch. Unlike Freedman’s The Pentateuch with Sources Revealed, this book separates the sources into their component parts so you can see how the sources read before they were combined. Of course, this is predicated on the idea that the sources were at one point independent. Campbell and O’Brien follow the source division as set out by Martin Noth, so it is a helpful tool for exploring his work as well.
The rating of 7 stems from the fact that I only assign higher numbers to works that present original scholarship.
